Powell’s Supermarket is proud to serve you from three locations; Bay Roberts, Carbonear and Harbour Grace. Powell’s Supermarket is a full service supermarket and is dedicated to offering the freshest produce, highest quality meats and poultry, and quality products to its customers.
Powell’s Supermarket has been a member of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) for almost 25 years. Dave Powell, Powell’s Supermarket CEO and President, is a member of the CFIG Board of Directors. CFIG is a non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and sustainability of independent grocers throughout Canada.
History
In 1948, Herbert J. Powell, of Carbonear, opened a small local retail store. After having some success in the grocery business, he relocated with his wife Isabelle and their four children to the town of Bay Roberts in 1955 to open Conception Bay’s very first Supermarket. Another location would be added in Carbonear and then Harbour Grace.
Today, Powell’s Supermarket is continuing their success through the business practices of Mr. Powell’s son, David J. Powell, and his grandchildren, David Jr and Adam Powell. Keeping the business family oriented, and locally owned and operated, has remained the focus of Powell’s Supermarket.
